In the Shadow of the Duke revenge for broken heart
The challenging seven-week long detective mystery on the Internet In the Shadow of the Duke is over. There was far more than one player close to the truth, but it can be only one winner. Aistė, a 29-year-old sociologist from Kaunas is awarded as the most perspicacious detective of the game.
Nine suspects, lots of motives to commit the crime and confusions concerning identity of the victim. That was how the game has started. Halfway in the game all the characters were targeted as murderers with the most incredible versions of suspicions. Seven weeks are gone and the mystery is solved. Vilma Gedvilaite, who wanted revenge for her broken heart, committed the crime.
Aistė, the winner of the game joined the investigation in the very first week of the game and during five weeks in row she pointed out the circumstances of the crime and the murderer with no mistake. The winner is awarded the main prize of the mystery. That is a weekend for two in one of the Nordic capitals.
According to the game organizers, the project was successful. During seven weeks of the game there were more than 600 votes received that explained who the murderer was and why he or she killed. The players were active and sagacious; many of them understood that the body in the Palace was that of Paulius, not of his twin-brother Saulius Račkaitis.
Beside the main prize there were also 21 weekly prizes awarded, among others detective novels and tickets to the Nordic film festival Scanorama.
The detective mystery on the Internet In the Shadow of the Duke is one of the events of the festival Vilnius Alibi, the first international crime fiction festival in Lithuania. The festival was organized on November 8-12 in Vilnius.
