The Vilnius Alibi week starts off
This week the city of Vilnius has a safe alibi. From November 8th the first Baltic Sea Crime Fiction Festival Vilnius Alibi takes place here. The festival brings to you meetings with the authors, seminars and discussions on crime fiction, crime film section “Crime and Punishment”, collection of short stories Vilnius Alibi, crime readings on the Lithuanian radio Klasika and other entertainment in detective style.

November 7-14, 9 pm Readings of short crime stories on the Lithuanian Radio Klasika, radio broadcast Evening with a Book Lithuanian actors read short stories about the city of Vilnius, written by the festival authors. November 8, 6 pm, conference hall of the hotel Barbacan Palace (Boksto 19, Vilnius) Russian detective author Aleksandra Marinina’s meeting with readers November 9, 5 pm, conference hall of the hotel Barbacan Palace (Boksto 19, Vilnius) Discussion Crime fiction as a mirror of society Discussion puts focus on relation between crime fiction and social reality, place of the crime fiction in contemporary literature etc. Ten authors from the Nordic and Baltic countries as well as Russia take part in the discussion. November 10, 5 pm, conference hall of the hotel Barbacan Palace (Boksto 19, Vilnius) Literature Workshop Crime Laboratory Workshop investigates what kind of problems in the society can be an inspiration, how the hero is chosen and after all how a detective story is being born. The Nordic and Baltic authors, who wrote the stories, take part in the crime laboratory. November 10, 8 pm, pub Artistai (Sv. Kazimiero 3, Vilnius) Detective happening Evening of Alibi The detective happening will show the duel detective actors versus detective authors. November 11 - December 2 The best Nordic crime films in the special programme Crime and Punishment in the Nordic Film Festival Scanorama in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipeda November 11, 7 pm; November 12, 1 pm and 7 pm Guided Tour Ghosts and Mysterious Stories of Vilnius During the guided tour one will walk the narrow streets in the Old Town of Vilnius and be told stunning stories that happened both to high society and ordinary residents of Vilnius. November 12, 5 pm, pub Artistai (Sv. Kazimiero 3, Vilnius) Public Lecture The most famous detective stories in Lithuanian history Alfredas Bumblauskas, the professor of History, leads through the mysterious and obscure ways and sideways of the Lithuanian history and reveals several dark sides of our ancestors. Live jazz music contributes to the detective atmosphere of the evening. Until November 27 Detective Mystery on the Internet In the Shadow of the Duke - www.vilniusalibi.lt Players of the mystery have to run an investigation on how and why a murder was committed, and who’s the murderer. The main prize is a trip for two to one of the Nordic capitals or Vilnius.
